TRIO Programs

TRIO programs include Student Support Services, Upward Bound, Veterans Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Ayers Campus Talent Search (ACTS) and the Cheaha Educational Opportunity Center. The U.S. Congress established the programs aiming to improve college access and graduation rates for underrepresented citizens. TRIO programs are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The programs help students overcome economic, education and social barriers to higher education.

Student Support Services

SSS serves students who are first-generation, low-income and/or disabled by ensuring they receive every possible opportunity to succeed. A wide variety of services are provided for FREE to 600 students. SSS strives to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment to ensure equal opportunities for success at Gadsden State.

Upward Bound

Upward Bound is an intensive college preparatory support project designed to provide low-income, first-generation high school students encouragement and the essential skills needed to complete high school and earn a post-secondary degree.

Veterans Upward Bound

VUB is designed to help veterans meet their academic and career goals. All services are FREE to eligible veterans.

Talent Search Gadsden

Educational Talent Search helps students in grades 6-12 succeed in secondary and postsecondary education. 

Ayers Campus Talent Search

The goal of ACTS is to increase the number of students who graduate high school, enroll in postsecondary education and graduate from postsecondary education.

Cheaha Educational Opportunity Center

The EOC provides opportunities for academic development; assistance in applying for college enrollment and financial aid; and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their high school equivalency and their postsecondary education.
